This is the story of a small apothecary shop, as apothecaries used to be called, that had a workshop in the backroom, where skilful Craftsmen worked to continue another, much much older story: carrying on the precious, unique and utterly original Sienese confectionery tradition.
It is 1827. Italy had not yet been born, and in the city of Siena there were only a few Master Craftsmen left who guarded the ancient secrets of medieval sweets, which had been handed down from generation to generation since the 1200s. In the Fiore Pharmacy on Via di Garibaldi, the passion for spices also became a passion for research and the history of Sienese sweets. They searched, studied and catalogued the few ancient recipes found among the dust of the archives. Strongly wanted were the few remaining Maestranzes in the city. And so it was that the Premiata Manifattura del Panforte Fiore was born.
Since then Fiore has been a very part of the city's culture, not only the faithful guardian of its confectionery tradition, but also the promoter of the authentic Sienese treasures that have become, thanks in part to Fiore, world-famous: Panforte, Ricciarelli, and Cantuccini.
For two centuries, Fiore has never betrayed its artisan spirit and meticulous attention to the historicity and originality of its recipes, while at the same time becoming synonymous with constant innovation: in the search for quality, in the choice and selection of ingredients, in the control of the supply chain, in respect for the environment and in the manufacturing process.
Especially in processing, it has pursued a process of innovation through the mid-year 2021 opening of its completely new factory with state-of-the-art machinery where we can touch and see firsthand the progress it is experiencing, yet never betraying the old recipes.
